EXHORTATION

WHAT IS OPPRESSION?  It means:

  • Prolonged abuse
  • Continuous cruelty
  • Persecution
  • Maltreatment
  • Ill treatment
  • Tyranny
  • Malicious treatment
  • Unjust treatment
  • Despotism
  • Affliction
  1. GOD WILL DELIVER YOU FROM OPPRESSION
  • Psalm 34 v 19

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”

  • Psalm 119 v 134

“Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts.”

  • Acts 10 v 38

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

v.18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,”

  1. YOU SHALL BE FAR FROM OPPRESSION

  1. GOD WILL FRUSTRATE THE PLAN OF THE WICKED BEHIND OPPRESSION

“The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the Lord will protect his people.”

  1. GOD WILL BREAK IN PIECES THE OPPRESSOR

He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.

  1. THE LORD IS A SHELTER FOR THE OPPRESSED

 v.13 “And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.”

 v.15 “Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.”

 v.16 “Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.”

 v.17 “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”

  1. OPPRESSION CAN MAKE ONE TO MISBEHAVE

“Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.”

  1. DESCRIPTIONS OF OPPRESSION

 Oppression is:

  • Anything that distresses you.
  • Anything that depresses you.
  • Anything that troubles you.
  • Anything that worries you.
  • Anything that frustrates you.
  • Anything that gives you sleepless nights.
  • Anything that makes you sad.
  • Anything that challenges your God.
  • Anything that robs you of your joy.
  • Anything that shakes your faith.
  • Anything that takes away your Peace.
  • Anything that limits your potentials/progress.
  • Anything that makes you labour for another to eat.
  • Anything that challenges your well-being.
  • Anything that inflicts diseases on you.
  • Anything saying where is your God (Ps. 42 v 3 & 10, Micah 7 v 10)
  • Anything that wastes your efforts and Investments.
  • Anything that makes you to labour without results.
  • Anything that makes you to fail at the edge of success.
  • Anything that harasses your welfare.
  • Anything that delays your manifestation.
  • Anything that denies you of your election, selection and appointment.
  • Anything that draws you back always.
  • Anything that makes you to see success without achieving it.
  • Anything that makes you age without substance.
  • Anything that makes you to struggle too much achieving little success.
  • Anything that stagnates you permanently for a long time.
  • Anything that stands like a Jericho wall that you are not going anywhere.
  • Anything that stops your progress suddenly.
  • Anything that works against the purpose of God in your life.
  • Anything inflicting stubborn hardship on your life.
  • Anything limiting you in all ways.
  • Anything troubling your star.
  • Anything boasting that you will not succeed.
  • Anything pressing against your speed.
  • Anything representing the rod of the wicked smiting you.
  1. CHANNELS OF OPPRESSION

“So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter.”

  9. Sexual vices
  10. Destructive characters like Gambling, Alcohol consumption, Smoking, Drugs intake, etc.

  12. Laziness
  13. I have arrived attitude
  14. Complacency

  16. Unhealthy family lifestyle           –        2 v 21 – 22

  18. Lack of quiet time with God, lack of retreat, lack of enough rest, lack of vacation, lack of me time & we time.

  20. Ingratitude to God and your benefactors, Stubbornness, Pride and resolution not to make peace when you should.

  16. INDICATORS OF OPPRESSION

 

  1. Constantly being pressed down in your sleep.
  2. Uncontrollable anger, sleep, sexual urge, gambling, drunkenness etc…
  3. Always feeling inferior and empty.
  4. If you don’t remember very important things.
  5. If you find it very difficult to trust in God.
  6. Your mind is always filled with evil thoughts.
  7. If you are always depressed and unhappy.
  8. Repeated sex, eating, fighting, flying in the dream.
  9. Spiritual backwardness and dryness.
  10. Some parts of your body are cold or they seem dead.
  11. Always having suggestions in your mind to carry out evil actions life jumping from a great height etc.

 

  1. Irrational and bizarre fear, depression, panicky attacks, timidity.
  2. Going about with sad and heavy countenance, no smile, no joy, no happiness. 
  3. Doing things against your will, you are often very restless and violent.
  4. You hate Bible study and get angry and quite uncomfortable during prayer session.
  5. Whenever you make up your mind to do anything good or great you end up not being able.
  6. The time is fast running out and your situations remain the same.
  7. You see strange things that others around you do not see and you sometimes communicate with invisible beings.
  8. Your life’s activities and operations have been pegged at a particular level; any attempt to rise above it is to invite trouble.
  9. You always think that you will go to Hell, evil thoughts generally.

  • Programme the word daily into your spirit

  1. SEPARATION UNTO THE LORD (Retreat) Luke 9 v 28, 29

  • Make regular retreat a habitual exercise. Don’t go to the mountain ONLY when you have problems.  Let it be a regular spiritual exercise.
  • Separation unto the Lord released power unto you over any oppression.

“And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:”

  • You will be known with enduring power if you are possessed with the spirit of Holiness. The devil fears people who are holy, eschewing sins.
  • Sins will open the door for the enemies to steal, kill and destroy.
  • Sin weakens the power over oppressions.
  • Oppressions will be re-occuring as long as you don’t live Holy.
