v.24 “Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovah shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.”

v.25 “And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father’s young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:”

v.26 “And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.”

v.27 “Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father’s household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.”

  • From the above scriptures, it is very clear that there are altars of righteousness and of unrighteousness.

Israel as a nation is great today because of the seven Altars raised by Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

  1. ALTAR OF GOD VERSUS ALTAR OF DARKNESS
  2. GIDEON CASE –         Judges 6 v 11 – 32
  • Gideon was destined to be great from Heaven

v.12 “And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”

  • The Altar of his father’s house was playing games with his greatness/destiny.
  • He asked the Angel, why the delayed miracles and prophesies.

v.13 “And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”

  • He built an Altar unto the Lord and called it Jehovah Shalom.

v.24 “Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.”

  • God appeared to him the same night to throw down the Altar of Baal his father had.
  • This shows the importance of an altar.
  • Two opposing altars cannot stay together.
  • The altar of Baal sponsored the poverty in Gideon’s family.
  • The altar of Baal was behind delayed manifestation and unfulfilled promises.
  • The altar of Baal prevented the greatness manifestation in Gideon.
  • The altar of Baal disgraced the competence of Gideon.
  • The altar of Baal ridiculed the heavenly investment deposited in Gideon.
  • The altar of Baal almost paralysed the greatness in Gideon were it not for timely divine intervention.
  • The altar of Baal made the whole family redundant.
  • The altar of Baal was a resisting altar, an antagonising altar, a disturbing altar, a hindering altar, a frustrating altar, a repressive altar

v.25 “And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father’s young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it”

  1. ARK OF GOD VS. DAGON
  • 1 Sam. 5 v 1 – 7
  • The Philistines took the ark of God and set it by Dagon
  • The Altar of God reacted and the altar of Dagon fell
  • Our God is a jealous God
  • Psalm 16 v 4

“Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.”

  • Exodus 34 v14

“For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:”

  • DEUT. 4 v 24

“For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.”

  1. HOW TO DEAL WITH STRANGE ALTARS
  • DEUT. 12 v 3

“And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.”

  • DEUT. 7 v 5

“But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.”

  • EXO. 34 v 12 – 17

v.12 “Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:”

v.13 “But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:”

v.14 “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:”

v.15 “Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice”

v.16 “And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.”

v.17 “Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.”

  • Strategic Apostolic Intercessory prayers are needed to deal with strange Altar’s activities.
  • The satanic priests ministering there must be dealt with in prayers, so also, the evil mandates pronounced there and the strange tokens being used for dedicated renewals in the evil calendar and time table.
  • Remember that evil altars are the main entry points for dark spirits to operate on earth, in places and in people. Prayers must be raised against these entry points and gates.
  • Remember what Jesus did for us on Calvary. The blood of Jesus will back us up in this mission in Jesus name.
  1. PRAYERS
  • DEUT. 12 v 3

“And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.”
