I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me… Habakkuk 2 v 2a (KJV)

       EXHORTATION

Job 34:21 (KJV “For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings” Job 34:21 (KJV) God knows the content from the beginning to the end of our lives but we do not. We know in parts and we prophesy in parts. Many of us are witnessing failure because we have not consulted God, but God is saying his eyes are upon our ways. Since He sees our entire goings, then we must make enquiry from him before taking any step. His eyes are everywhere. He knows the future of your work, yet unborn babies, this country and your family. Job 31: 4 “Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?” You don’t know the number of steps you have taken since you were born and you still don’t know the number of steps you will take later but he knows. He sees all your ways; he counts all of your steps: the steps you are going to take politically, financially, spiritually, family wise: He has counted them ahead of time. God is the greatest mathematician. He knows your step already, so it is wise to make enquiry from Him before taking those steps. “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.” Proverbs 5:21. Your ways are before His eyes and He thinks of your going whether you should take a step or not. Even in your state of confusion, God is watching you; He wants you to ask Him what you should do. There may be many proposals but you need to make enquiries from the Lord. They may invite you to join a political group or a business; you still need to enquire from Him because not all that glitters is gold. As a student and as parents, you should not let your parents force you to do courses you do not want and you should not force your children to do courses you desire, rather, make enquiries from God about their courses. Many youths are miserable these days because they didn’t enquire from God before choosing courses to study in school. If the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Proverbs 15:3 “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” Wherever you are, in the remotest village, arctic region, amusement park, beach, in the cinema, centre of decision, examination hall; the eyes of the Lord are there and He beholds the evil and good. Since He knows the area that will be good and bad, then you need to consult Him because His eyes are everywhere. Many people are starting projects but you must enquire from God. You don’t just go and live in an area because the area you live will define your destiny forever. Jeremiah 16:17 “For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.”

What is good for your friend may not be good for you so always enquire from the Lord. The most difficult examination in life is the examination of life. Many people copy other people but they don’t know we have different questions. The questions for you in the university of life are quite different from that of your brother. You will answer your peculiar question while others will answer theirs too so don’t copy. Enquire from the Lord or you will sorrow eternally. When God stands, He sees everything; nothing is hidden from Him so you have to consult him. He is the oracle in heaven that when you consult, He will tell you what to do and what not to do because His eyes are upon all the ways of man. Man can deceive but God can never deceive. Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” God told Abraham he would be the father of many nations but he kept saying he was old. However, God told him not to worry and He did it eventually but Abraham made a mistake by taking a wrong counsel that brought about Ishmmael and till tomorrow, we are suffering the penalty of the error he committed: the error of not waiting totally for God.

Hebrews 4:13 “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” All things are naked and open before God so you don’t need to run the race on your own. When Jacob was running the race with his cunning sense, he thought he was a fast man but when he had an encounter with God, He told him he had been using his strength to run and jog so God dislocated his hip bone and he started limping. Jacob then admitted that he couldn’t run like before and depended on the strength of God. Since that day, Jacob started moving till he became the greatest nation all over the world. Your former strength cannot take you to the place of making it, but there are encounters that will make your Israel come out of your Jacob; you will then depend on the speed of God and not your speed.

God owns your agenda. If He says you should use the blood of Jesus for a battle today, He can tell you to use the sword of the Lord tomorrow; He dictates the weapon. When David enquired of the Lord, God asked him to go. He went and won the battle. When they came again, he asked God, and God told him not to use the pattern he used before. God gave him another pattern and David won the two battles with two different patterns. Just like the sons of Issachar, they had understanding of the time and season.

Many are failing in life today because they took the initial step without consulting God. You need to ask God for your purpose on earth: what were you created for? In the area of marriage, you must consult God. Many people are not enjoying marriage because they did not consult God before going into it. Consult God concerning your business; that someone is prospering in a business does not mean you should do the business. You must consult God on your investments and where to serve God. Many destinies have been messed up, perforated, drowned, manipulated, manoeuvred and fragmented because they served in a wrong place. You must ask God; that everyone is rushing there does not mean it will favour your destiny but God is still in the business of a master builder. He can repair faulty destinies. You must consult God on whom to relate with. You must not allow some people on the same page with you because they can devalue your destiny. They have to leave your life so that they don’t destroy your life. It will just be like the association of Abraham and Lot. Until God separated Lot from Abraham, Abraham did not fulfil destiny.

Proverbs 20:24 “Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?”  Your goings from birth to burial and from the womb to the tomb belongs to the Lord. You cannot understand your own way except through the owner of the goings. Proverbs 19:21 “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.” Your brain is given to you to think. Your mind, will and emotion are the three major components of your soul. Ideas will come but ask God for counsel. Proverbs 16:2-3 “All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits. Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”  When you consult God, He teaches you the way to go. There are some ways you should never go, and if you go that way, a major part of your destiny will be lost. You think all your ways are clean but God knows better. Proverbs 12:15 “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.” Hearken to the counsel of God.

WHY MUST YOU CONSULT GOD

  • God is always right
  • Man can never be right always
  • God is all knowing. Man is limited
  • God owns the compass of your life
  • God is the chief pilot of your entire being
  • God knows about your tomorrow
  • God is your beginning and your ending
  • God knows the result of your life before you take the exam of your life

Don’t take any major decision without consulting God. Your decision will either bring God into your plan or shut Him out completely. If you take a decision that is positive and God is in it, it will work. Likewise, if you take a negative decision and you shut God out of it, it won’t work out well.

Then, struggles, pain, regrets, manipulation will take over. The easiest road to frustration is to do what God has not ordained. A man who hears from God will cease from troubles. God speaks to everyone; you must learn how He speaks to you. It takes spiritual principles to sort spiritual problems. Give God attention and He will give you direction. If you give the devil attention, he will equally give direction negatively.

In order not to miss it in life, always seek counsel from God who knows and sees us from the beginning to the end. Jesus is Lord.
